Check out this special by NPR on Direct Primary Care! It thoroughly discusses the Direct Care model, including the benefits, like steeply reduced medications, affordable monthly fees, and on-demand access to their provider for no extra cost. It also discusses the benefits for primary care doctors, who are able to spend 30-60 minutes a visit (pretty unheard of in the fee-for-service model) and only have around 600 patients (as opposed to the normal number, which is sometimes 2000+). For some primary care doctors, Direct Primary Care could be a more holistic way to practice, and for some patients, DPC is an ideal way to receive primary care. I found this incredibly interesting and would absolutely give it a listen!
